Community Impact

Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC) is committed to improving the lives of those we serve throughout Atlanta and all of Georgia. We work in partnership with community organizations, policymakers and others across the state to improve health access and health outcomes. We have the most comprehensive health system in the state, we train tomorrow’s leaders in medicine, nursing and public health, and our innovative research creates new ways to diagnose, treat and cure diseases and injuries.

Engaging with our community

At WHSC, improving lives and providing hope extends beyond the walls of our hospitals, schools and institutes. It reaches into the communities we serve through local partnerships, outreach activities and innovative programs to promote health, expand access and deliver quality care.

Providing unparalleled care

Emory Healthcare is the most comprehensive academic health system in Georgia, including 10 hospitals, the Emory Clinic, and more than 425 provider locations. Our hospitals are consistently recognized for the excellence and dedication of our providers and care teams.

Bolstering Georgia’s health care workforce

In Georgia, the health care workforce shortage has reached critical levels, exacerbating challenges in delivering quality care. WHSC’s comprehensive training programs and workforce development initiatives play a crucial role in addressing that shortage.

Unlocking the potential of research and technology

WHSC secures $1 billion in research funding annually. Our scientists engage in groundbreaking research across disciplines and make significant contributions in their fields.
