Biography

Charles Ginden retired as executive vice president of SunTrust Bank, Atlanta, in December 1998.

He graduated from Emory University in 1955. Following three years in the U.S. Air Force, he began his banking career with Trust Company of Georgia.

A former trustee of Oglethorpe University and a previous member of the DeKalb Medical Center Board for twenty-five years, Mr. Ginden currently serves on the board of trustees of the Emory-Egleston Children’s Research Center, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and Business Executives for National Security.

An active alumnus, he is past president of the Atlanta Area Emory Club, past president and treasurer of the Association of Emory Alumni, and past chair of the Emory Board of Visitors. He was awarded the Emory Medal in 1987. He was elected an alumni trustee of Emory University in 1983 and in 1990 he became a term trustee and was elevated to emeritus status in November 2004. He also served as Secretary to the Board.
