About IPECP
Overview
Launched in March 2022, the Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC) Office of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP)'s mission is to transform health care and public health through interprofessional education and training, research, and engagement in the communities that the WHSC serves. We support and develop innovative IPECP opportunities to train and prepare the health care workforce with the goal of improving health outcomes, patient satisfaction, and community health. Strategies we use include supporting and developing interprofessional curricula and experiential learning experiences that support team-based competencies for all WHSC learners and care providers; accelerating the development and adoption of interprofessional team-based care models; and advancing knowledge on IPECP effectiveness through scholarly research.

Leadership and Staff
The Office of IPECP is led by co-directors Jodie Guest, PhD, MPH, and Beth Ann Swan, PhD, RN, and builds upon initiatives already underway to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
IPECP is a well-established priority for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC) that was introduced in 2018 with the development of the IPECP Council led by Ira Horowitz, MD, executive associate dean of faculty and clinical affairs at Emory University School of Medicine, and Linda McCauley, PhD, RN, dean of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
