  Tech Transfer Celebration Honors Scientist Entrepreneurs
Emory and Georgia Tech entrepreneurs were honored recently at the fifth annual Celebration of Innovation and Technology. Faculty were recognized for a start-up company based on new cardiovascular technology, a new incontinence technology, anti-flu antibodies that could lead to a universal flu vaccine, and a new hemophilia drug.   Fishing for Whale Shark DNA
Scientists know that whale sharks, as the world's largest fish, can grow up to 40 feet long, but they don't know why. How are they related to other fish, and what can their DNA tell us about other species? Tim Read, head of Emory's Georgia Research Alliance Genomics Center, is working with Georgia Aquarium scientists to produce the world's first genome of the whale shark. Read more. . .

Full-Court Press on a Possible Prostate Cancer-Related Virus
A recently discovered virus may play a role in prostate cancer, but the virus also may be susceptible to antiretroviral drugs. Emory scientists in seven labs are at the epicenter of efforts to uncover the role of XMRV in prostate cancer development and progression.
