CALENDAR LISTING:

Good food, good wine -- and good for you. The Reds, Whites & Hearts wine tasting sponsored by the Atlanta Wine Guild is a celebration not only of Heart Month, but also the pleasures of moderation.

Villa Christina will host this elegant but informal opportunity Feb. 16 from 1-6 p.m. to taste and learn about wine from classic vintages to new domestic and imported labels. Gourmet food specially prepared to enhance the heart -- and soul -- will be served.

Villa Christina is located at 45 Perimeter Summit Blvd., Atlanta. Advanced reservations are $35 or admission is $40 the day of the event. The event will support Emory HeartWisesm Dining Program. Call Emory HealthConnection at 404/778-7777 for information.

"A healthy lifestyle can certainly include the moderate consumption of wine," says Nancy Anderson, R.D., director of Emory HeartWisesm Dining.

Atlanta Wine Guild assembles all segments of the wine industry, including consumers, to promote awareness of and education about wine in the Atlanta area.

"We are eager to associate the moderate enjoyment of wine with the promotion of a healthy lifestyle to benefit the Emory HeartWisesm Program," says Jane Garvey, chair, Atlanta Wine Guild.

Emory Heart Center is helping to organize the wine tasting. The Heart Center brings together all the clinical cardiac services of The Emory University System of Health Care including cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac anesthesiology and cardiac imaging. Cardiology services at the Emory Heart Center are consistently ranked among the nation's top 10 by U.S. News & World Report.

Emory HeartWisesm Dining is a community-oriented nutrition program of Emory Heart Center that seeks to help persons reduce heart disease risk by improving eating habits. Numerous restaurants around metropolitan Atlanta participate in the program by highlighting menu items with an Emory Heart Center "heart," indicating the dishes meet the Center's heart-healthy nutrition guidelines. The program also shares an abundance of healthy recipes and cooking tips through its newsletter and cooking classes at Kroger Cooking School.

Emory University System of Health Care incorporates all of Emory's health services into an integrated whole. In addition to The Emory Heart Center and a citywide network of health centers such as The Emory Clinic at Perimeter, The Emory System includes Emory University Hospital, The Emory Clinic, Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University and Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna, as well as Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital at Emory University and Egleston's Children's Hospital at Emory University.
