WINTER 2019 O. Wayne Rollins Foundation pledges $65 million to construct the R. Randall Rollins Building

R. Randall Rollins |
I am delighted to announce that the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation has committed $65 million toward the construction of a third public health building. To be named the R. Randall Rollins Building, this 187,000- square-foot facility will be located adjacent to the Grace Crum Rollins Building. The bridge will extend from the Claudia Nance Rollins Building connecting all three.
We expect to break ground in late spring 2020 and anticipate completion in 2022. One-third of the R. Randall Rollins Building will contain office space for our expanding faculty, one-third will provide much needed classroom space, and one-third will be dedicated to a state-of-the-art conference and teaching space for short-term courses, distance learning, and community outreach.
The SLAM Cooperative—the same architectural firm that designed the Claudia Nance Rollins Building—is already at work. Thanks to each of you who have participated in focus groups and surveys. These are a critical part of the process. We have selected New South as the contractor. Their work on the Emory Campus includes the recently renovated Convocation Hall on the main quadrangle.
We will provide regular updates on our progress.
I am deeply grateful for the generosity of the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation and the Rollins family. Their continued investment in our mission through buildings and a commitment to endowment has propelled our school into the highest echelons of public health research, education, and outreach. The facilities we’ve been able to build with their support are considered to be among the very best at any school of public health in the country and have proven critical in our ability to attract world renowned scholars, students and research to our campus.
Leaders in our field

Re-accreditation update
|
|
Delia Lang |
RSPH is up for re-accreditation this year, and Delia Lang (behavioral sciences and health education) has been leading the process as director of re-accreditation. This time around, the criteria for curriculum has changed dramatically, and we’ve been working diligently for the past two years to meet the new requirements. Our internal steering committee recently completed the first draft of our self-study document, and in the months to come they will be reaching out to faculty, staff, students, and community partners for any final feedback. Our site visit will be October 28-30. Check the RSPH web site for updates in advance of the site visit.
