Emory Vision's Newest Laser Vision Technology Can Perform Fastest Lasik Available In U.S.
Emory Vision, part of the Emory Eye Center and the Emory University School of Medicine, has acquired the newest FDA-approved LASIK technology available in the United States. Emory Vision is a refractive surgery center located on the north side of Atlanta and the only LASIK provider affiliated with Emory Healthcare.

The new technology is the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q, provided by WaveLight, Inc., which delivers the fastest laser vision correction treatments available today.

Laser vision correction is now in its second decade of helping patients reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. As testimony to its life-changing benefits, thousands of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and patients around the world have become so impressed with the results of laser vision correction that over one million procedures are now performed each year in the United States. "As the first LASIK center in the Southeast to acquire the Eye-Q system, we look forward to achieving the predictable and reliable outcomes that we have experienced with the earlier generation Allegretto Wave system during the past two-and-a-half years," says R. Doyle Stulting, MD, PhD, Emory Vision's medical director and professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University.

The new technology, a wavefront-optimized system, is the only laser built from the ground up to reduce glare and halos for night vision, and, for some patients, can give better vision than ever achieved with contact lenses or glasses. Each procedure is customized for the patient's individual and unique vision correction needs.

The Eye-Q laser is the only system that preserves the natural curve of cornea, which eliminates the glare patients may experience from some technologies. Additionally, the reduced treatment time provides a more comfortable procedure for patients (dilation is not required) and is beneficial for treating high myopia (up to –12 diopters), high astimgatism and other time-intensive procedures.

"The Eye-Q will allow us to provide shorter, more comfortable procedures for our patients while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety," says Stulting.

The only LASIK provider affiliated with Emory Healthcare, Emory Vision's surgeons are leaders and teachers who develop and conduct clinical trials and provide the high level of care available at a leading academic medical center.

With their broad knowledge, Emory Vision physicians, who are all board-certified cornea specialists, offer the widest range of vision-enhancing procedures available. The latest equipment, coupled with ongoing research and training, keeps Emory Vision at the forefront of custom wavefront technology.
