Kevin A. Ault, MD, Joins Emory Winship Cancer Institute
Kevin A. Ault, MD, has joined the Emory Winship Cancer Institute and the Emory University School of Medicine as Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Ault comes to Emory from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he held a joint appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and in the Department of Epidemiology.

Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ault earned his medical degree at the Indiana University College of Medicine in Indianapolis. He conducted his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ohio State University in Columbus and was a Fellow in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He received his Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Environmental Studies at Butler University in Indiana.

Dr. Ault's clinical research interests are sexually transmitted diseases, vulvar vaginal diseases and infections, obstetrics and gynecology infectious diseases. Many of his clinical studies involve development of a vaccine for human papillomavirus or HPV. HPV infection is the cause of nearly all cases of cervical cancer. Two major pharmaceutical companies are planning on marketing versions of this vaccine in the near future. Dr. Ault's research at Emory will concentrate on immune responses to these vaccines.

Dr. Ault has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Microbiology, the International Infectious Disease Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He also recently served as medical advisor on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Region VII Infertility Prevention Project.
