Emory Healthcare Announces New Administrator for Budd Terrace Nursing Home
Emory Healthcare veteran Valerie Bender, RN, has been named administrator of Budd Terrace nursing home at Wesley Woods Center, the geriatric specialty component of Emory Healthcare.

Ms. Bender brings more than 20 years experience to her new post. As a registered nurse, she worked in many areas of health care, including acute care, long-term care and home healthcare. Bender says she loves the people she cares for, and even with her hectic daily schedule, she always takes time to visit patients. It is the highlight of her day.

The biggest challenge in the health care industry, Bender says, includes recruiting/retaining the best health care personnel. "We are better when we work together as a team," Ms. Bender says. "Your attitude makes such a difference when you interact with people. We can choose to have a positive attitude or a negative attitude, and I always ask my staff to choose to be positive."

Budd Terrace is a 250-bed skilled nursing home located on the 64-acre park-like Wesley Woods Center campus, only a short distance from Emory University in Atlanta.
