Emory's Center for Rehab Medicine Tees Off for the 2005 Emory Golf Challenge
One of the state's most inspiring golf tournaments will take place at Emerald Pointe Golf Club at Lake Lanier Islands on Friday, September 23, 2005, with a shot gun start at 10:30 a.m.

The Emory Center for Rehabilitation Medicine's (CRM) 12th annual Emory Golf Challenge raises awareness of physically challenged individuals. Proceeds from the event benefit Emory's rehabilitation programs.

During the golf challenge, three participants join a physically challenged player to complete a foursome. Most of the physically challenged players suffer from various injuries including stroke, brain injury, neurological disorders, or spinal cord injury.

A silent auction will take place in conjunction with the golf tournament. There will be an opportunity to win one of several prizes on the Par 3 hole, in addition to raffle prizes. The prizes include airline tickets, rounds of golf, sports memorabilia, and more.

"We hope to raise awareness of the talents and abilities of physically challenged individuals through this golf tournament," says Pat Fraley, director, CRM. "This is an unique opportunity for golf enthusiasts to see first-hand that a physical challenge doesn't stop you from participating in life."

Located near Emory University Hospital, the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine is a 56-bed, freestanding facility built in 1976, and was one of the first dedicated rehabilitation centers in Georgia. The CRM provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation treatments.

Pre-registration is available through Monday, Sept. 6. To register or for more information, contact Ginger Moore at 678-316-7771.
