The Hope Clinic of the Emory Vaccine Center will host its second annual Hope Springs Eternal 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 16, 2005. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Main Pavilion in Decatur Square (registration from 8-8:45 a.m.). Don't worry if you do not want to run. You can walk (dogs and strollers are OK), cheer others on, or volunteer to help on race day! This event will kick off the Hope Clinic's exciting lineup of community activities this spring and summer.
Funds raised from this event will enable Emory to continue supporting outreach and education efforts to communities in Atlanta to increase knowledge about HIV prevention clinical trials and also increase participation. In addition, vaccine researchers will be able to share their skills and experience with collaborators in resource-poor countries so they can conduct HIV vaccine trials in their own countries.
All participants will receive a multicolor, 100% cotton t-shirt, bagels, fresh fruit, and water. Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female, masters male and female, plus three-deep in five-year age groups from 19 and under to 65 and over. All participants will be automatically entered in a special drawing for several prizes to be given away at the conclusion of the event.
To register for the race, go to www.active.com or www.rungeorgia.com or at the Main Pavilion location on race day for $25.
The run'walk is being supported by the following generous sponsors: Southern Company, Southern Voice, Birdi's Restaurant, Race Line Foto Finish, and Peta Westmaas Design.
In addition, race organizers would like to thank the following supporters: Fitness Together, Zocalo, Kroger, Panera Bread Company, Java Monkey, Cinema Shack, Oakhurst Grill, Universal Joint, and Sweet Devil Moon.
