Emory University Hospital Expands at Northlake
In an effort to provide Emory University Hospital (Clifton Road) additional space for patient care, Emory University has signed an agreement that will lead to its purchase in the near future of the facility that was formerly Northlake Hospital. The 120-bed facility is located in DeKalb County on Montreal Drive (near I-285 and Lawrenceville Hwy).

According to John Fox, president and CEO of Emory Healthcare, "Subject to regulatory approval, Emory initially will open only a small medical inpatient unit and will not immediately offer emergency department or other services. The complement of medical services available will include diagnostic services, as well as support services required for inpatient care. We will call this new facility Emory University Hospital Northlake."

As with all new Emory facilities or those under renovation, Emory plans on providing flexible space, effective use of technology, spaces that will allow Emory to pursue educational and research activities within the clinical care environment, and facilities that support innovation in developing new approaches to care and to wellness.

"The acquisition of Northlake gives Emory an important site for expansion, as we look for additional venues that allow us to pursue our mission of medical education and training while serving the health care needs of the community," says Fred Sanfilippo, MD, PhD, executive vice president for health affairs at Emory University and chair of Emory Healthcare.

"We look forward to utilizing this new facility to provide Emory patients with the medical excellence they experience in any of our current hospitals or clinics," says Fox.
