The Emory Clinic Receives Prestigious Press Ganey Award for Quality Improvement Program
The Emory Clinic is one of only six health care organizations nationwide to receive the prestigious Press Ganey Success Story Award, and the only medical practice group among the winners.

Through its Success Story Contest, Press Ganey -- the healthcare industry's leading independent vendor of satisfaction measurement for more than 20 years -- recognizes a select handful of more than 7,000 healthcare facilities for their dedication and unique approaches to improving the quality of patient care.

The Emory Clinic patient relations team was recognized recently for its success at the national Press Ganey meeting in New York City.

"Being one of only six organizations nationwide to receive this award is a tremendous honor for our physicians, nurses and staff members," said Donald Brunn, chief operating officer for The Emory Clinic. "But the honor is also indicative of the way in which Emory seeks to combine world class medical care with an equally outstanding patient experience. Emory's patients seek and deserve the very best in care, and we are pleased that this honor is reflective of our commitment to providing just that."

The Emory Clinic focused its efforts on improving survey scores in one priority area: information about waits and delays in all of its varied 66 locations in metro Atlanta and around the state and region. The hypothesis was that by focusing in on one actionable area The Emory Clinic could create clinic-wide tactics that would increase scores not just in one category but overall.

Their mantra, "If patients wait, they deserve an update," was reinforced by action steps ranging from implementation of a patient ambassador program to daily huddles, in which staff at all locations kick off each day with a five-minute consult to review schedules, anticipate operational snags, and plan contingencies.

About the Emory Clinic:

The Emory Clinic is the largest, most comprehensive physician practice in Georgia, consisting of more than 980 specialists, sub-specialists and primary care physicians who care for patients at one of our many clinics, hospitals and affiliates throughout the Atlanta region. The Emory Clinic recently celebrated 50 years of service to the community and through those years, our physicians and surgeons have been responsible for some of the most significant innovations and treatments in health care.
