Emory Clinic Department of Radiation Oncology Receives Outpatient Excellence Award
The Emory Clinic Department of Radiation Oncology has been selected to receive the inaugural 2006 Outpatient Excellence Award for Oncology Centers from Outpatient Care Technology magazine.

The award, which recognizes oncology centers for their clinical, financial and operational accomplishments and achievements, takes into account factors including strong customer service, financial performance, innovation, operational efficiency, strategic vision and teamwork. The department will be featured in the August/September issue of Outpatient Care Technology magazine, to be published this month.

The honor reflects the commitment to quality care, highlighted by cutting-edge technology, world-class medical faculty, and outstanding customer service, according to Administrator Diane Cassels.

"Anytime you can be recognized nationally with an award that places an emphasis on such key points as teamwork, innovation and customer service, it validates your commitment to excellence, said Cassels. "We strive for outstanding, consistent patient care and satisfaction, and I am pleased that our team has been honored for the way we conduct business each and every day."

"The Emory Clinic's Department of Radiation Oncology represented the pioneering and innovative spirit required of a trend-setter, blending human knowledge and teamwork with mechanical support to treat and heal patients physically, mentally and emotionally," said Rick Barlow, editor of Outpatient Care Technology.

"Because fighting cancer represents such a serious business, we felt that those organizations on the front lines of battle deserved serious recognition for their efforts and accomplishments. From the pool of nominations we received we narrowed the field to four finalists. Some excelled at customer service, operational efficiency, automation or technological advancement or a combination of noteworthy attributes. But of those four finalists, we felt that one clearly demonstrated the depth and experience we were looking to showcase to our readers."
