'Reitsma's Relievers' Pitches in for Kids in Need
Chris Reitsma and friends will come together for "A Night at the Ball Park," June 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the historic 755 Club at Turner Field. The event launches Chris' Locker, a program benefiting the patients and families of the Emory Children's Center. The program will provide vital resources to families with children who are living with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, epilepsy, cystic fibrosis and renal failure. Chris' Locker will provide each family with a "starter back pack" filled with essentials such as parking vouchers, age appropriate toys and gas cards. In addition, an actual locker will serve as a "treasure chest" for children when they visit with their physician.

The mission of Chris Reitsma's Relievers Foundation is to benefit children who are seriously ill or have physical or developmental disabilities, and their families, by providing assistance, programs and events designed to build self-esteem, provide unique life changing opportunities and help them to set and achieve their life goals.

"I am so thankful for the opportunities that I have had and want to give back by helping children who want to one day star in their own major league dream. Reitsma's Relievers understand that life has thrown these children a curve ball in the form of a debilitating disease. Our goal is to help these young patients strike out their disease by providing them with essential resources to have a healthy and hopeful future," said Chris Reitsma.

Each day more than a hundred children and their families visit the Emory Children's Center for comprehensive compassionate care. The Emory Children's Center, a not-for-profit institution, is Georgia's largest multi-specialty pediatric physicians group. All physicians are Emory School of Medicine faculty delivering not only expert clinical care, but also conducting research and training the pediatric leaders of tomorrow.

"No family should have to struggle with providing basic needs when dealing with the challenges of a chronic illness. Thanks to Reitsma's Relievers we will have additional resources to offer our families," says Barbara Stoll, MD, George W. Brumley Jr. professor and chair, Department of Pediatrics, Emory School of Medicine and medical director, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. "We are grateful for the generosity of Goldman Sachs. 'A Night at the Ball Park' is an opportunity to gather and increase support for our smallest ball players, our children."
