Emory Crawford Long Hospital Education Broadcasts Win National Aegis Awards
Emory Crawford Long Hospital's Ruben Melendez won two Aegis Awards for directing live medical education broadcasts at the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center.

Mr. Melendez, senior media director, won as a director in the training and education and live event categories for directing a live broadcast of several cardiac resynchronization therapy implant procedures from the hospital's electrophysiology laboratories. The live broadcasts are used to train Emory medical staff as well as health care professionals around the world live via satellite.

The Aegis Awards receive approximately 2,500 entries annually. A minimum score of 85 qualifies an entry as a winner. Mr. Melendez scored an 87 and, as a 2005 Aegis Award recipient, he has been asked to judge next year's competition.

"I really share this award with the rest of the video production staff. I am honored to be a part of this awesome program and look forward to even greater things in the future," says Mr. Melendez.

The 16th annual Aegis Awards are one of the oldest and most respected video and film production contests in the United States. The judging is based on the well-structured content of the entry, ability to hold the viewer's interest, professional techniques, and high production values.

Mr. Melendez and his team were also recently recognized with two 2005 Videographer Awards, an international awards program that honors talented individuals and companies in the video production field.
