Discussion Scheduled on Surgical Options for Parkinson's Patients
Emory neurologist Mahlon DeLong, MD, and Emory neurosurgeon Aviva Abosch, MD, PhD, will hold a free discussion on January 30, 2004, detailing the surgical options available for patients with Parkinson's disease. Co-sponsored by Medtronic, Inc., the maker of surgically implantable devices for Parkinson's, the event is called "All About Activa - an Informal Discussion about Deep-Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's Disease."

This patient education event will include an overview of the procedure and a question and answer session with the doctors. The discussion will be held at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, Salon 1, 1615 Clifton Road, Atlanta, beginning at 12:30 p.m. (with a box lunch). The discussion will run from 1-3 p.m. To register for the event between 8 a.m.-8 p.m., call 1-800-675-5752. The deadline to register is January 29. There is no charge to attend.
