|A new custom refractive laser, shown to improve quality of vision with regard to daytime and night driving glare, is available for the first time in Georgia, at Emory Laser Vision. The European-designed ALLEGRETTO WAVE excimer laser system with PerfectPulse Technology was the first new platform to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in five years. It is also the only laser system that has received concurrent approvals for nearsightedness and farsightedness with astigmatism and clearance for the widest treatment range ever initially granted to a new laser.
The number one selling refractive laser outside the United States for the last two years, the ALLEGRETTO WAVE, built by WaveLight Laser Technologie of Erlangen, Germany, is the world's only system to incorporate wavefront principles into its standard platform.

Because it is the fastest laser available in the United States today, the ALLEGRETTO WAVE delivers short and comfortable treatments, usually in less than 15 seconds. Its PerfectPulse Technology helps to minimize post-operative glare issues by incorporating wavefront principles directly into the laser treatment.
WaveLight's proprietary PerfectPulse Technology allows the ALLEGRETTO WAVE to precisely control every laser pulse to ensure accurate delivery of a small laser spot at high speed (just four seconds per diopter) to the desired location of the cornea. Designed to work with the laser's sophisticated eye tracker, PerfectPulse Technology calculates and adjusts for the delivery of each laser pulse, according to the eye's rapid movement, without the need for dilation or marking.
In addition, PerfectPulse Technology considers the natural, curved shape of the cornea, automatically delivering pulsations according to each eye's individual refractive error and corneal curvature. This provides large, effective optical zones that contribute to high quality vision, especially at night when the pupil enlarges.
