10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

phases of the 2008 U.S. presidential election. What does the future hold for
our nation's health care system? You are invited to hear a group of Emory
University's most knowledgeable health policy leaders in a lively discussion
about the most pressing health policy issues of the day. Moderated by
Michael M.E. Johns, MD, CEO, Woodruff Health Sciences Center, Emory
University.

- Arthur Kellermann, MD, MPH

- Professor and Chair of Emergency Medicine,
Emory
University School of Medicine
Full biography.
Dr. Kellermann will address the emergency care system crisis and what the
U.S. should do to fix it. He says ER overcrowding, ambulance diversion,
uncompensated care, fewer "on-call" specialists and inadequate emergency
preparedness have crippled the nation's emergency care infrastructure. A
large-scale event such as bird flu, terrorist attack or widespread natural
disaster could put further strain on an already fragile system.
