More than twice as good

Thanks to those of you who were able to attend the annual State of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center address earlier this week. If you couldn't make it to WHSCAB, we've posted video of this week's event along with a year-in-review slide show showcasing many—though by no means all—of our terrific accomplishments and recognition from 2013.

The past year has presented more than its share of challenges, and it's true that many more still lie ahead. But it's equally true that the faculty, staff, and students of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center have achieved more in the past year than ever before in our history. Across all of our units and all of our missions, we are leading positive transformation in the world and having a meaningful impact on the lives of others.

In 1962, former Emory president Sanford Atwood told the Emory community, "You people are twice as good as you think you are." I have to disagree with Dr. Atwood: you are more than twice as good as you think you are, and as always, I'm grateful for all that you do to move our important work forward.

CEO, Woodruff Health Sciences Center
Chairman, Emory Healthcare
