Volkan Adsay

 

Volkan Adsay (pathology) led a 20-member research team that received the 7th Annual Team Science Award from the American Association for Cancer Research. The team, which has worked together for more than 10 years, consisted of members from Johns Hopkins University, Emory, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Carolyn Clevenger (nursing) was the winner of the allied health category for the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2013 Health Care Heroes Awards.

Sandra Franklin (WHSC Library) began a three-year term as a member of the board of directors of the Medical Library Association.

Nadine Kaslow (psychiatry) received the Inspiring Mentor Award from the Grady Health Foundation. She is also president-elect of the American Psychological Association's board of directors.

Costas Hadjipanayis (neurosurgery) was the winner of the rising star category for the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2013 Health Care Heroes Awards.

Walter Ingram

 

Walter Ingram (surgery) was the winner of the physician category for the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2013 Health Care Heroes Awards.

Bonnie Jennings (nursing) was a finalist in the military service category for the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2013 Health Care Heroes Awards.

Michael Lubin (medicine) was named a master of the American College of Physicians, its highest designation.

Viraj Master

 

Viraj Master (urology) took first place for his presentation at the Research Forum at the American Urological Association Annual Meeting. His talk was on an investigation into the level of health literacy demonstrated in the relationship between prostate patients and their doctors.

Helen Mayberg

  Helen Mayberg (psychiatry, neurology, and radiology) received the 2013 Joan and Stanford Alexander Award in Psychiatry, which honors significant contributions in research, education, and clinical or community service for people suffering from severe mental illness. She also received the 25th Annual Pasarow Foundation Award for outstanding neuropsychiatric research.

Katie Oldham

 

Katie Oldham (nursing unit director for urology, gynecology, and general surgery, Emory University Hospital) was one of 10 recipients of a 2013 ajcjobs Nursing Excellence award. Other nominees include EUH's Anthony Adjapong, Codi Rhear, Nathan Wehtje, and Dianne Thackston, EUHM's Danyelle Minor, and EJCH's Kelly Harris.

Stuart Zola (Yerkes) was a finalist in the innovation category for the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2013 Health Care Heroes Awards.
