As associate director of media relations, Johnson is responsible for promoting Emory Healthcare clinical medicine as well as medical discovery and advances by Emory University School of Medicine faculty.

Johnson came to Emory from the American Cancer Society in 2006 where she spent several years providing strategic communications counsel on behalf of the organization's National Home Office to communications and marketing staff across the nation. She helped develop and implement internal and external communications plans for nationwide initiatives, and she served as the Society's special correspondent to the Gulf South region in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Johnson began her career with the American Cancer Society in 2000 as the state communications and marketing director in Louisiana. She began her professional career as a general assignment television reporter in Bowling Green, Ky. She also worked for NBC News Network during the 1996 Olympic Games and NBC News Channel in Charlotte, N.C. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia's Grady School of Journalism.
