In his new book Iconoclast: What Neuroscience Reveals About How to Think Differently,  Dr. Greg Berns provides biological evidence that explains how rare individuals he calls "iconoclasts" shatter conventional thinking and do what others say can't be done.

Based on groundbreaking research on how the brain impacts how we feel, think, and behave, Berns shows that the iconoclast's brain differs from most in three distinct ways: perception (how they interpret what they see), fear response (how they overcome fear of uncertainty and public ridicule), and social intelligence (how they connect with others to sell their ideas).

By explaining the constraints the human brain places on innovative thinking and revealing how to overcome these common obstacles, Iconoclast  provides a window into the way iconoclasts think and could help readers think more like iconoclasts themselves.

The book is scheduled to be released in October of 2008.
