President and CEO, Emory Healthcare

John Fox is president and CEO of Emory Healthcare, the largest and most comprehensive health care system in Georgia.

Originally as president and chief operating officer of Emory Healthcare, Mr. Fox directed the restructuring of the health system and consolidation of five disparate entities to function more effectively as one health care system.  Recently, he negotiated an agreement with the Hospital Corporation of America that resulted in a unique partnership and the construction of the Emory Johns Creek Hospital.  Located in one of the most promising residential and commercial development areas in the country, this new north Atlanta hospital opened in February 2007.  Mr. Fox has also worked to renew Emory Healthcare's number one priority — delivery of exceptional quality through impeccable clinical outcomes, patient safety and patient and family service.

Prior to joining Emory Healthcare in 1999, Mr. Fox spent 10 years as executive vice-president of Clarian Health in Indianapolis.  Before Indianapolis, Mr. Fox was the Chief Financial Officer at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Mr. Fox earned a bachelor's degree in economics and history from Washington University in St. Louis, and has an MBA in finance. After graduation, Mr. Fox, a CPA, joined Coopers and Lybrand, directing health care mergers, acquisitions and general healthcare consulting.  Recently, he chaired the Atlanta Health Services CEO Forum for Mayor Shirley Franklin, and is now a member of several professional and civic organizations, including the Atlanta Committee for Progress, the American Association of Health Plans, the College of American Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Institute, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals and the Atlanta Rotary Club.
