As associate director of media relations, Johnson is responsible for promoting Emory
Healthcare clinical medicine as well as medical discovery and advances by Emory
School of Medicine faculty.
Johnson comes to Emory from the American Cancer Society where she spent the
last several years providing strategic communications counsel on behalf of
the organization's National Home Office to communications and marketing staff
across the nation. She helped develop and implement internal and external communications
plans for nationwide initiatives, and she served as the Society's special correspondent
to the Gulf South region in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Johnson began
her career with the non-profit in 2000 as the state communications and marketing
director in Louisiana. Previous to that experience, Johnson worked for New
Orleans-based public relations and advertising agency, Keating Magee, managing
public relations and media outreach for the agency's largest client. She began
her professional career as a general assignment television reporter in Bowling
Green, Ky. She also worked for NBC News Network during the 1996 Olympic Games
and NBC News Channel in Charlotte, N.C. She is a graduate of the University
of Georgia's Grady School of Journalism.
