 The Atlanta VA Medical Center is located near the main Emory campus. This 173-bed general medical and surgical hospital and 100-bed nursing home is a major affiliate of Emory School of Medicine, with 116 residents, 168 fulltime equivalent paid staff physicians and dentists, and over 280 unpaid volunteer medical staff. Most of the staff have faculty appointments. The research program is in the top 20 VA's in the country and includes 110 principal investigators, 310 research projects, and total research funds of $18 million. Additionally, the medical center is affiliated with over 60 other institutions involving 24 training programs.
