EMORY HEALTHCARE OFFERS FREE PROSTATE CANCER SCREENINGS

WHAT: Emory Healthcare is offering free prostate cancer screenings during the month of September. The screening exam will consist of a blood test for prostate cancer (prostate-specific antigen or PSA) and a digital rectal exam (DRE).
 
WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 11 9 AM to 3 PM *Midtown Urology
Tuesday, Sept. 21 6 PM to 8:30 PM The Emory Clinic
Thursday, Sept. 23 6 PM to 8:30 PM The Emory Clinic
Saturday, Sept. 25 9 AM to 3 PM *Atlanta Urological Consultants
 
WHERE: The Emory Clinic, Building A, 1365 Clifton Road NE, Emory University campus

WHO: The screening is available to men over the age of 50, or men over 40 who are at high risk (family history of prostate cancer or African-American descent). Men who have been treated for prostate cancer are not eligible and should seek follow-up care from their physician. The screenings are sponsored by Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University, the Emory University Department of Urology, and the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
 
WHY: The screenings are being offered as part of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
