EMORY "LUNCH-N-LEARN" TO FOCUS

ON GYNECOLOGIC CANCER

WHAT: The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is offering a free "Lunch-N-Learn" seminar as part of Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. The discussion will be led by Emory Clinic physician Ira Horowitz, MD, and will focus on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of ovarian, uterine, cervical and other gynecologic cancers.
 

WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.
 

WHERE: Emory University Hospital, Classroom A105, first floor.
 
WHO: Anyone with an interest in knowing more about gynecologic cancer is invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public.Dr. Horowitz is professor of gynecology and obstetrics in the Emory University School of Medicine. He is a practicing gynecologic oncologist at The Emory Clinic.Lunch is being provided courtesy of Ortho Biotech Oncology and Smith Kline Oncology.
 

WHY: The luncheon is being offered as part of Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. September has been chosen as the month to raise awareness about ovarian and other gynecologic cancers, including uterine, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers, and cancer of the fallopian tubes by the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation. Approximately 25,700 women will die from gynecological cancers this year.
