Pregnancy, new fertility options, breast health, osteoporosis and menopause are a few of the topics to be covered at the free and informative Women's Health Series offered by doctors at the Emory University System of Health Care beginning in March.



The first three classes, March 11, 18 and 25, of the six-part series are geared toward women ages 21-44 and the later three classes, April 8, 15 and 22, are for women 45 and over. The classes will be Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at The Emory Clinic at Perimeter, 875 Johnson Ferry Rd., Atlanta.



The Women's Health Series is a two-part lecture series designed to educate both younger and older women on various OB/GYN health topics. Participants are encouraged to attend all three classes in their respective months.



Classes will be led by physicians of The Emory Clinic. Reference booklets and light refreshments will be provided at each session. At the end of each class, participants can discuss issues with the doctors during a question and answer period.

MARCH: Women 21-44


March 11 Anatomy & Analysis -- The functioning of the female reproductive system including anatomy, Pap smears and common pathology. Presented by Gregory Zengo, M.D., and Mary Dolan, M.D., both obstetrician/gynecologists at The Emory Clinic at Perimeter.


March 18 Gynecological Health: What's Best for Your Body -- The latest in breast health and birth control. Presented by Sujatha Reddy, M.D., and Charles Wootten, M.D., both obstetrician/ gynecologists at The Emory Clinic at Perimeter.


March 25 Baby-Bound -- What you need to know about pregnancy, including new fertility techniques. Presented by Emory obstetrician/ gynecologist Anne Namnoum, M.D., and Emory neurologist Jackie Washington, M.D.



APRIL: Women 45 and over


April 8 Your Changing Body -- The facts on breast health and medical procedures particular to women, including mammography and hysterectomy. Presented by Sujatha Reddy, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist at The Emory Clinic at Perimeter, and Marion Reynolds, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist at Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University.


April 15 Maintaining a Healthy Body -- Learn about health risks, prevention and conditions associated with aging such as high cholesterol, osteoporosis and incontinence. Presented by family practitioner Alison Lauber, M.D., who also is medical director of family practice at The Emory Clinic at Crawford Long, and Emory urologist Niall Galloway, M.D.


April 22 Beyond the Childbearing Years -- An overview of menopause and advancements in hormone replacement therapy. Presented by Richard White, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist at The Emory Clinic at Perimeter, and Shelley Dunson, M.D., an obstetrician/ gynecologist at Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University.
